About US Washlady Coinage
A pattern coin design by Charles Barber featuring Liberty with her hair tied up, hence the nickname Washlady. The design was used on pattern half dollars, quarters, and other denominations. The Washlady pattern was not adopted for regular coinage. These patterns are collected as part of the US pattern series. The design is considered attractive but was rejected in favor of the Seated Liberty and later Barber designs.
