Featured George Washington on the obverse. Originally intended as a one year commemorative for the 200th anniversary of Washingtons birth. Became a regular issue due to popularity. Designed by John Flanagan. The 1932-D and 1932-S quarters are the key dates. From 1999 to 2009, the reverse changed five times per year for the 50 State Quarters program, the most successful coin program in history.
