About Vietnamese Dong
One of the lowest valued currencies per unit. Introduced after the reunification of North and South Vietnam in 1978. The dong replaced both the northern dong and the southern piastre. The dong has been redenominated once but still trades at very high numbers per dollar. Vietnamese banknotes feature Ho Chi Minh on all denominations. The State Bank of Vietnam manages monetary policy.
