About Venezuelan Bolivar
Named after Simon Bolivar, the liberator of South America. The bolivar suffered devastating hyperinflation starting in 2016. Redenominated three times: in 2008, 2018, and 2021, removing a total of 14 zeros. The 2021 digital bolivar is pegged to the US dollar. Venezuelas economic collapse created one of the worst monetary crises in modern history. The bolivar has lost more value than any other currency in the 21st century.
