About US Twenty Cent Detail
The twenty cent piece was championed by Nevada Senator John P. Jones to increase silver demand. The coin was too close in size to the quarter. The Carson City mint produced only 10,940 pieces in 1876, making the 1876-CC extremely rare. In 1877 and 1878 only proofs were struck. The twenty cent piece was the shortest lived US denomination. The design featured a seated Liberty by William Barber.
