About Tombstone Piastre
The trade dollar of French Indochina, featuring Liberty seated. The reverse design with denominations in Chinese, Vietnamese, and French gave it a distinctive appearance. Widely used in the China trade. The piastre de commerce weighed 27 grams of pure silver, matching the Mexican dollar. French coins from the Saigon mint circulated throughout Southeast Asia. The piastre was used in Vietnam until 1954.
