About Tunisian Dinar
The Tunisian dinar replaced the French franc at 1 dinar to 1,000 francs. The dinar is named after the ancient Roman denarius. Tunisian banknotes feature Hannibal, the Carthaginian general, and modern Tunisian leaders. The Central Bank of Tunisia was established in 1958. The dinar has a managed exchange rate. Tunisia has experienced economic difficulties since the 2011 Arab Spring revolution.
