About Thai Baht
One of Asias oldest currencies. Originally a unit of weight for silver. The baht was decimalized in 1897 by King Chulalongkorn. Thailand was never colonized, so the baht has a continuous history. The baht was pegged to the dollar until 1997, when the Asian financial crisis forced it to float. The baht is one of the most traded currencies in Asia. Thai banknotes feature the kings in royal attire.
