About Taiwan Old Dollar
The currency of Taiwan since 1949. Replaced the old Taiwan dollar at 40,000 to 1 after the Nationalist retreat from the mainland. The new Taiwan dollar was originally pegged to the US dollar. Taiwan has maintained one of the largest foreign exchange reserves in the world. The NT dollar is a freely floating currency. Taiwanese banknotes feature Sun Yat-sen, Chiang Kai-shek, and local landmarks.
