About Syracuse Dekadrachm
Considered by many numismatists to be the most beautiful Greek coin ever minted. Featured a chariot race on one side and the nymph Arethusa surrounded by dolphins on the other. Syracuse in Sicily was one of the wealthiest Greek cities. The die engravers Kimon and Euainetos signed their work, among the first artists to do so on coins. The dekadrachm was worth 10 drachmas and was likely a commemorative or presentation piece.
