About Sikh Coinage
The coins of the Sikh Empire under Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Featured the Sikh symbol and the name of Guru Nanak. The gold mohur and silver rupee were the primary denominations. Sikh coins bear no image of the ruler, consistent with Sikh traditions. The Lahore mint produced the finest Sikh coins. The Sikh Empire ended after the Anglo-Sikh Wars, and British coinage replaced Sikh coins.
