About Persian Siglos
The silver coin of the Achaemenid Persian Empire. Featured the king as a half kneeling archer, similar to the gold daric. Weighed about 5.4 grams. The siglos was the silver counterpart to the gold daric. The ratio was 20 sigloi to 1 daric, reflecting the gold to silver ratio. Persian coins were used to pay tribute, soldiers, and bureaucrats across the vast empire.
