About Swedish Riksdaler
The main silver coin of Sweden for centuries. The riksdaler was the Swedish equivalent of the German taler. The 1632 riksdaler of Gustavus Adolphus is a classic coin. Sweden had the largest copper coinage in history with plate money alongside silver riksdalers. The riksdaler became the standard trade coin of Scandinavia. Replaced by the krona in 1873 when Sweden joined the Scandinavian Monetary Union.
