About Paraguayan Guarani
Named after the Guarani people, the indigenous inhabitants of Paraguay. The guarani replaced the peso at 100 to 1. Paraguay is the only South American country with an indigenous language as an official language alongside Spanish. The guarani is one of the least valued currencies per unit in South America. Paraguayan banknotes feature national heroes and indigenous motifs. The Central Bank of Paraguay was established in 1952.
