About Pakistani Rupee
Introduced after the partition of India in 1947. Initially used Indian rupee notes stamped with Pakistan until new notes were issued in 1948. The Pakistani rupee has depreciated significantly. Pakistani banknotes feature Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan. The State Bank of Pakistan was established in 1948. The rupee is not fully convertible on international markets. Pakistan has sought IMF bailouts repeatedly due to balance of payments crises.
