About Philippine Peso Detail
The US issued special coins for the Philippines after acquiring it from Spain in 1898. Featured a Filipino man at an anvil with a volcano in the background. The 1903 to 1912 silver pesos contain 80 percent silver. The 1906-S peso is the key date. Philippine coins under US administration are collected as both US colonial and Filipino numismatics. The Philippines became independent in 1946, and the peso continued as its currency.
