About UK One Pound Coin
The British one pound coin replaced the one pound banknote in 1983. Featured Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse and varying reverse designs representing the four constituent countries of the UK. The 2017 redesign introduced a 12 sided bimetallic version to combat counterfeiting. The old round pound was demonetized in October 2017. The new coin features the most advanced security features of any British coin.
