About Norwegian Krone
Norway joined the Scandinavian Monetary Union in 1875, adopting the krone. The union ended with World War I. The Norwegian krone is heavily influenced by oil prices due to Norways status as a major oil exporter. The Norwegian Government Pension Fund, the largest sovereign wealth fund in the world, holds over 1.5 trillion dollars. Norway has twice voted against joining the EU, keeping the krone independent.
