The 20 franc gold coin of Napoleon Bonaparte. Featured his profile on the obverse. The Napoleon was minted in millions and became one of the most widely distributed gold coins in history. Many European nations adopted the 20 franc standard through the Latin Monetary Union. The coin was minted until 1914. Swiss, Belgian, and Italian 20 franc coins are virtually identical. Still traded as bullion today.
