About Macedonian Denar
The denar replaced the Yugoslav dinar after Macedonian independence. The denar was initially pegged to the deutsche mark. Macedonian banknotes feature historical monuments and cultural motifs including ancient Macedonian symbols. The National Bank of the Republic of North Macedonia was established in 1991. The denar is a managed float. North Macedonia aims to adopt the euro upon EU accession.
