About Manchukuo Coinage
Coins of Manchukuo, the Japanese puppet state in Manchuria from 1932 to 1945. Featured designs reflecting the states claim to be an independent nation. Minted in bronze, copper-nickel, and aluminum. The coins used both Chinese and Manchu scripts. The 1944 and 1945 issues were aluminum due to wartime metal shortages. Manchukuo coins are collected as historical artifacts of Japanese imperialism.
