About Lynchburg Half Dollar
A commemorative half dollar marking the 150th anniversary of Lynchburg, Virginia. Featured Liberty and Senator Carter Glass, who was still living at the time of issuance. Only 20,000 were minted. The Lynchburg half dollar is one of the scarcer classic commemoratives. The inclusion of a living politician on a US coin was controversial. The coin was sold locally in Lynchburg during the sesquicentennial celebration.
