About Litecoin
Created by Charlie Lee, a former Google engineer. Often called the silver to Bitcoins gold. Litecoin has faster block times of 2.5 minutes compared to 10 minutes for Bitcoin. Uses the Scrypt mining algorithm instead of SHA-256. Litecoin was the first major cryptocurrency to implement Segregated Witness. The Lightning Network can run on both Bitcoin and Litecoin. Lee sold all his Litecoin holdings in 2017 to avoid conflicts of interest, a decision he has reflected on as bittersweet.
