About US Lincoln Cent
The first US coin to feature a real person, replacing the Indian Head cent on the 100th anniversary of Lincoln birth. Designed by Victor David Brenner. The reverse changed from wheat ears to the Lincoln Memorial in 1959 and to the shield in 2010. Over 500 billion Lincoln cents have been minted. The 1909-S VDB is one of the most famous key dates. The 1943 steel cents were made to save copper for World War II and are commonly mistaken for rare treasures.
