About Kazakhstani Tenge
Introduced after the collapse of the Soviet Union, replacing the Soviet ruble. The tenge was the first independent Kazakh currency. The National Bank of Kazakhstan was established in 1993. Kazakhstani banknotes feature historical monuments including the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi. The tenge floated freely until a managed float was adopted. Kazakhstan was the last Central Asian country to introduce its own currency.
