About Kievan Coin
The coinage of Kievan Rus under Vladimir the Great and his successors. Featured the rulers portrait and the patron saint. Vladimir introduced coinage after converting to Christianity. The zlatnik gold coins and srebrenik silver coins were short lived. Most Russian trade used Byzantine and Islamic coins. The Kievan coinage is extremely rare and historically important as the first native Russian coinage.
