Kenyan Shilling
About Kenyan Shilling
Replaced the East African shilling in 1966 after Kenya gained independence. The Kenyan shilling is the most stable currency in East Africa. Kenyan banknotes feature images of Kenyan wildlife and the first president Jomo Kenyatta. The Central Bank of Kenya was established in 1966. The shilling is used in neighboring South Sudan and Somalia in border regions. M-Pesa mobile money has reduced cash usage in Kenya more than in any other African country.
