About Chinese Junk Dollar
Featured a Chinese junk boat on the reverse. Introduced in 1933 as the standard silver dollar of the Republic of China. Also called the Sun Yat-sen dollar after the portrait on the obverse. The Junk dollar was the last Chinese silver dollar. The silver content made it valuable. In 1935, China abandoned the silver standard, and junk dollars were hoarded or melted.
