About Jersey Coinage
The Bailiwick of Jersey issues its own coins and banknotes pegged at par with the British pound. Jersey coins feature the Queen and local symbols including the Jersey cow, the Church of St. Brelade, and the maritime history of the island. Jersey issued its own notes from 1791. The States of Jersey regulates the currency. Jersey currency is not legal tender in the UK despite the par peg. Jersey is a Crown dependency, not part of the UK.
