About Jefferson Nickel
Featured President Thomas Jefferson on the obverse and Monticello on the reverse. Designed by Felix Schlag. From 2004 to 2005, the reverse featured the Westward Journey series commemorating the Lewis and Clark expedition. In 2006 the obverse was updated with a forward-facing Jefferson. The 2004 and 2005 nickels are the only US nickels with different reverse designs besides Monticello. Wartime nickels from 1942 to 1945 contain silver.
