About Iowa Half Dollar
A commemorative half dollar marking the 100th anniversary of Iowa statehood. Featured the Old Stone Capitol in Iowa City on the obverse and an eagle on the reverse. Only 100,057 were minted. The Iowa half dollar was the first commemorative issued after World War II. The coin was designed by Adam Pietz and was sold by the Iowa Centennial Commission. The Old Stone Capitol served as the first state capitol building.
