About Huguenot Half Dollar
A commemorative half dollar marking the 300th anniversary of the Huguenot settlement in New York. Featured the profiles of Admiral Gaspard de Coligny and William the Silent, who were actually killed before the settlement. The coin was controversial because it honored foreigners. Only 142,080 were minted. The Huguenot half dollar is one of the early classic commemorative coins and is moderately valuable in uncirculated condition.
