About Croatian Kuna
The kuna was the currency of Croatia from 1994 to 2023. Kuna means marten in Croatian, referencing the medieval use of marten pelts as currency. The kuna replaced the Croatian dinar at 1,000 to 1. Croatia adopted the euro on January 1, 2023, becoming the 20th eurozone member. The kuna was one of the most stable post Yugoslav currencies. Croatian euro coins feature the marten, continuing the kuna tradition.
