About Hospitaller Coinage
The coins of the Knights Hospitaller on Malta. Featured the cross of the Order and the Grand Masters coat of arms. The coins were denominated in scudi, tari, and grani. The Grand Masters used coinage to project their sovereignty. The most beautiful Hospitaller coins were struck under Grand Master Emmanuel de Rohan. Napoleon seized Malta in 1798, ending Hospitaller coinage.
