About Hong Kong Dollar
First minted in 1863 under British colonial rule. Pegged to the US dollar at 7.75 to 7.85 since 1983. The Hong Kong dollar is one of the most traded currencies in the world due to Hongongs role as a financial center. The HKMA maintains the peg through currency board arrangements. Hong Kong banknotes are issued by three commercial banks, unique among major currencies.
