Hephtalite Coin
About Hephtalite Coin
Coins of the Hephthalite or White Huns who devastated the Gupta Empire and Sasanian Persia in the 5th century. Their coins were imitations of Sasanian drachms and Kushan coins, reflecting their nomadic origins and lack of native minting tradition. Hephthalite coins bear the name of their rulers in Pahlavi script. The Hephthalites were defeated by a Sasanian-Turkic alliance in the 560s. Their coins are scarce and historically significant.
