The half dime series includes the Flowing Hair, Draped Bust, Capped Bust, and Seated Liberty types. The 1802 half dime is one of the greatest American rarities. The 1870-S half dime is unique. Lewis and Clark carried half dimes on their expedition. The last half dimes were minted in 1873 when the denomination was abolished by the Coinage Act of 1873, known as the Crime of 73 by silver advocates.
