About Gupta Silver Coin
The silver coins of the Gupta Empire were based on the Satavahana and Kshatrapa coinage traditions. Featured the Gupta emperor on the obverse and the goddess Lakshmi on the reverse. The silver came from trade with the West. Gupta silver coins are less common than gold dinars. The quality of silver coinage declined in the later Gupta period, reflecting economic difficulties.
