About Gupta Gold Dinar
The gold coins of the Gupta Empire, considered the Golden Age of India. Featured the emperor performing various activities: hunting, playing the veena, feeding a bird. The artistry of Gupta dinars is exceptional. The coins of Kumaragupta feature a horse sacrifice scene. Gupta gold came from Roman trade payments, as Roman gold flowed east in exchange for spices and silk. The Gupta coinage influenced later Indian and Islamic coinage.
