About Dutch Gulden
The gulden or florin was used long before it became the modern guilder. Dutch gulden coins from the Golden Age financed the worlds first multinational corporation, the VOC. The VOC was the first company to issue public stock and paid enormous dividends in gulden. Dutch silver gulden coins from the 17th century are found in shipwrecks worldwide. The rijksdaalder was worth 2.5 gulden and gave rise to the dollar name in America.
