About Dutch Guilder
The currency of the Netherlands from the 17th century until 2002. The guilder powered the Dutch Golden Age. The Dutch East India Company paid in guilders. The name comes from gulden meaning golden, originally referring to the gold florin. The guilder was one of the strongest currencies in Europe. The Netherlands Antillean guilder is still used in Curacao and Sint Maarten. Replaced by the euro at 2.20371 guilders per euro.
