About Gibraltar Pound
The currency of Gibraltar, pegged at par with the British pound sterling. Gibraltar has issued its own notes since 1914 and coins since 1988. Gibraltar notes and coins are legal tender only in Gibraltar. The currency features local landmarks including the Rock of Gibraltar and Barbary macaques. The Government of Gibraltar acts as the central bank. Despite being pegged to sterling, Gibraltar currency cannot be used in the UK.
