About Fugio Cent
The first official one cent coin issued by the United States. Designed by Benjamin Franklin. Featured a sundial with the motto Mind Your Business and the inscription Fugio, meaning I fly, referring to time. The reverse showed 13 linked rings representing the colonies. The Fugio cent was struck by a private mint under contract. Many varieties exist due to hand crafting of dies.
