About Franklin Half Dollar
Featured Benjamin Franklin on the obverse and the Liberty Bell on the reverse. Designed by John Sinnock. The small eagle on the reverse was added to satisfy the legal requirement that coins depict an eagle. The 1955 doubled die obverse is a notable variety. Minted until 1963 when it was replaced by the Kennedy half. The Franklin half is popular with collectors for its short 16 year run.
