About French 100 Francs
A large gold commemorative coin minted by France in the 1950s and 1960s. Featured various subjects including Napoleon Bonaparte, Joan of Arc, and Saint Louis. Contains 8.06 grams of pure gold. The series was popular with collectors but expensive for the general public. The coins were struck at the Paris Mint. The 1955 Napoleon 100 francs is the most common. The 1966 Saint Louis issue had a mintage of only 10,000 and is the rarest.
