About Falkland Islands Pound
The currency of the Falkland Islands, pegged at par with the British pound. Falkland Islands coins and notes feature local wildlife including penguins, sheep, and sea lions. The Falkland Islands Company originally issued currency. Coins are minted by the Royal Mint. The currency was used during the 1982 Falklands War when Argentina briefly occupied the islands and introduced the Argentine peso. After British victory, the Falkland pound was restored.
