Euro Design Competition
About Euro Design Competition
The euro coin designs were chosen through competitions. The obverse or national side was designed by each country. The common reverse designs were created by Luc Luycx of the Royal Belgian Mint. His design shows maps of Europe with the European Union. The designs were selected by a jury and approved by European finance ministers. The maps have been updated twice, in 2007 to include new member states and in 2017 with a more stylized representation.
