About US Eisenhower Dollar
The first US dollar coin issued after the Peace dollar series ended in 1935. Featured President Dwight D. Eisenhower on the obverse and the Apollo 11 mission insignia on the reverse. The large size made it unpopular for everyday use. Minted from 1971 to 1978. Special 40 percent silver versions were struck for collectors. The Eisenhower dollar paved the way for the smaller Susan B. Anthony dollar.
