About Australian Holey Dollar Dump

The center punched from the Spanish dollar to create the holey dollar. The dump was worth 15 pence or one quarter of the holey dollar. Featured the crown and the denomination on one side. About 400 dumps survive today. The dump and holey dollar together are called the Proclamation coinage of New South Wales. They represent the ingenuity of early Australian colonists in solving money shortages with available resources.
