Contained 3.545 grams of pure gold. Accepted from London to Cairo to Beijing. Venice produced ducats by the millions. Even after Venice fell, other nations including the Netherlands, Austria, and Russia continued minting ducats. The Austrian ducat was minted until 1915 and is still produced as a restrike.
